#17 and Rebelcaptain? 💖💐🌈
ooohhh I loved this one
17. Why did you choose me from this list
WC: 650
Shrapnel and stray bullets and nights spent on the cold hard ground alone. Aching limbs and bloodied bandages. The future of who Jyn Erso was was written the day she saw her mother crumple to the ground, lifeless. The day her father stepped aboard an Imperial ship and never looked back. It was etched in stone again the day Saw promised to come back for her. She could tell in his eyes he was lying. No one ever came back for her. She waited anyway.
And then she was staring down a man with fire in her eyes, ignited by the hope of the justice she thought she would never see. He sneered at her the same way he did her mother before he pulled the trigger and ended her world the first time. At least this time it would be for good. The moment was already coated in triumph. Her triumph.
When the blaster rang out, she stiffened in anticipation, only to see Orson Krennic crumble before her.
Cassian limped from behind a pillar, dried blood on his cheeks, and the same spark of triumph reflecting in his eyes.
He came back.
For her.
Jyn, overcome with emotion, sidled up beside him and offered the support of her shoulder.
The rest is hazy in her memory. The horizon being swallowed up. The rescue. The trip back. The subsequent weeks of planning the next move.
Years later, she listened to the sound of the waves lapping the rocky walls that hid away their cliffside home. Their comm links hadn’t buzzed in maker knows how long. They had won.
Cassian slept soundly beside her. He lay splayed out on his stomach cradling a pillow with his bare back exposed to the candlelight that danced yellow on the stone walls. She traced the scars on his taut shoulders and spine, tickling him awake in the early morning calm.
He mumbled something into his pillow, turning his head to face her. His eyes fluttered between sleep and awake.
“It’s early. Are you alright?” “Couldn’t sleep,” she replied softly, drawing her knees to her chest and wrapping her sweater clad arms around them.
Cassian reached a clumsy arm out towards Jyn, and took her hand in his own, his warmth combatting her chill like it always did.
She watched him dance with sleep for a while longer. His eyelashes fluttered while his breath came evenly. It had been so long since they were able to rest.
Thunder vibrated the base of the mountain, and caused him to stir. He squeezed her hand before releasing it and pulled his arms straight in a languid stretch.
One brown eye opened to peek at her, and his mouth twitched into a small smile.
“What are you thinking about?” He asked with a still sleep heavy voice. It rumbled like the building storm engulfing their hideout.
“Why did you choose me?” Her voice came out smaller than usual, the way it did when she got tangled up in the past, lying awake and replaying old memories in the shadows on the wall all night.
Cassian shifted to face her full on.
“I mean,” she paused, “Why did you come back? On Jedha, you could’ve left me to be buried with the rest of your problems. Same as Eadu, and Scarif. You had everything you needed to keep going. I just,” her voice trailed off, and she picked at a loose thread on their blanket, making a mental note to fix the seam before everything spilled out.
Cassian pushed himself to a sitting position and reached to catch her head in his hand, drawing her gaze fully to him.
“I can’t explain it, but I just knew I needed you to be the best version of me. We’re a team, Jyn.”
His thumb brushed an old scar on her cheek, and he pulled her head closer to seal it with a solemn kiss.

hello hi! hope you're doin good! i was wondering, could you do prompt 2."things you said through your teeth" for RebelCaptain from the mini-fic ask game, pretty please?
Hello, hi --thank you so much for the ask!! This one got out of control a bit (I actively had to pull myself back from allowing it to totally spiral) so I don't think it classifies as a drabble anymore (oops), but I hope you like it! 😅💜
things you said through your teeth
When it comes to Cassian Andor, Jyn finds herself lying both to herself, and others, a lot...
The day the medics decide it is time to try and wake Cassian from his coma, she is sitting on the floor just outside his room, back pressed against the cool wall, intermittently pulling her legs in so a passing rebel does not trip on them.
Anxiety tickles at her insides, pressing at her nerves, forcing her muscles to twitch, trapping her in a useless cycle of fidgeting and tense, heavy sighs. She cannot seem to stop the memories that invade her mind…
The half-smile he’d managed, even through extreme pain, when he’d come back for her, caught her eyes from the other end of a smoking blaster.
Staring into his eyes on the elevator. She’d expected relief, to no longer care now that the mission was done–what else was there? But instead she had caught herself wishing for more time. Maybe there were some things still unfinished after all…
His arms around her on the beach, the odd wave of contentment that had washed over her…
Will he remember those moments too? How will he look at her when they finally see each other again?
She tells herself it doesn’t matter, why should it? She tells herself her restlessness is merely a matter of concern for a friend.
(Even if her heart is pounding the moment the medic appears to tell her he is awake, she can come see him if she wants…)
Tumblr media
She is sitting across from Bodhi in the mess hall, watching Cassian’s figure retreat, studying the limp he tries to hide–the one that means he’s in more pain than usual today–reflecting on the serious expression that had remained fixed on his face all through their meal, the food on his plate that had been seemingly forgotten, barely more than a bite consumed.
“Do you want to go after him?” Bodhi asks, eyes fixed on her nearly as intently as her own are fixed on Cassian. There is something to his gaze, another question that is going unspoken.
“No,” Jyn says quickly, tearing her eyes from Cassian and returning them to her lunch. She picks up her fork and stabs at mystery meat with what could perhaps be defined as unusual intensity. “No, of course not. Why would I?”
Bodhi shrugs, “Seemed like you wanted to.”
“No,” she says again. The third time in less than a minute, as though she is running lines for a play, committing the act to memory–as though she will become more convincing with practice. “I don’t want to…”
Tumblr media
“Get this,” Melshi raises his flask to his lips once more, cheeks a cheery pink as he laughs, “one of the new recruits made a pass at our very own Captain Andor today.”
Jyn stiffens, fingers tightening on her glass, eyes jumping to Cassian’s face.
He shakes his head at his friend, gives a small, good-natured smile.
“Oooh really?” Han smirks, turning with interest. “Do tell.”
Jyn stands abruptly and every person seated around the fire raises their heads to look at her, confused. “I have an early morning,” she mutters, reaching for the nearest bottle and lifting it in acknowledgement to her companions. “Good night.”
She marches away, feeling the quiet, the curiosity that she leaves in her wake, settling over the group like a fine layer of dust. She ignores it, takes a swig of the liquor straight from the bottle as she traces her way down the dim hallway. Eventually, the sound of laughter and easy conversation returns, an echo that grows fainter and fainter with each desperate step she takes.
“Jyn, wait!” Cassian’s voice calls after her, and she knows it is his hand she feels land on her shoulder and pull her around.
Her core tightens as though preparing for a blow, an instinctive layer of armor that is enough of a reminder of self to borrow strength from. She raises her eyes to look at him, face carefully blank. “What do you need?” she asks, tone even, formal.
For a moment she thinks she’s somehow hurt him, because his hand drops from her shoulder and his eyes hold a flicker of doubt. “I’m… I’m sorry about that,” he gestures at the fire behind, “back there…”
She ignores the acrobatics of her stomach, gives an unbothered shrug. “What about it?”
“I didn’t… I mean… Nothing happened. Between me and the woman Melshi mentioned.”
“It’s fine, I don’t care,” she says, jaw clenched tight, words barely making it past the lump in her throat. “Not my business.”
And she quickly turns and walks away, feels his eyes follow her into the dark…
Tumblr media
There’s a knock at her door, soft but insistent, and Jyn sets aside the half-drunk bottle of liquor, regarding the shuttered entrance to her room from the steady surface of her bed.
It’s only a few steps away, but right now it seems like hundreds, more than she truly wants to be bothered with. “Who is it?” she calls. “Can it wait till morning?”
There’s a pause, she thinks maybe the person has given up, or realized they knocked on the wrong door. “No,” Cassian says, voice muffled.
She reaches under the mattress and pulls out a monitor, clicks it on to check the camera she had set up in the hallway to guard her room. He’s standing with his forehead pressed to the door, fist still resting where he had knocked. As she watches, he pushes himself away, takes a step back and fixes the barrier with a stare she cannot see enough to read the meaning of.
Fine. Jyn hoists herself off the bed and slams her hand on the button to open the door, turning her back before she can see Cassian’s face and returning to her safe perch on the edge of her bed.
He’s never been in her room before, she catches the intelligence officer in him stirring, eyes quickly scanning the area, absorbing what details there are to obtain from her few, scattered belongings.
When he looks at her, she raises an eyebrow, challenging. “What?”
For a moment he only stares at her, a stare that makes her skin itch and her face warm, her fingers curling into the palm of her hand. When he finally speaks, he speaks quietly, “I care. I don’t want you to think I have eyes for…”
“Cassian,” Jyn cuts in, “it’s late. I already told you I’m okay just–”
Something changes in his expression, some hint of frustration making itself known, and a soft growl of exasperation escapes him.
Before Jyn can open her mouth again, Cassian has stepped forward, taken her face in his hands and planted a firm kiss on her lips. “I only want you,” he breathes, forehead pressed to hers, a hand still holding the back of her head. “If you really don’t care, that’s fine, but I need you to know, to understand, that for me? You’re it. Alright?”
Jyn finds herself no longer capable of lying. To herself or to him.
She pulls Cassian back to her.
Tumblr media
“Good morning, sunshines,” Bodhi says cheerfully as Jyn and Cassian approach the table, plates piled high with what passes for ‘breakfast food’ on base. “Cass, we missed you the rest of the night, you never came back. Where’d you wander off to?
Cassian steals a quick glance at Jyn, taking note of her disheveled hair, imagining his might appear equally unkempt. She gives a slight, secret smirk meant just for him. “Nowhere,” he tells Bodhi, through a smile that mirrors Jyn’s.
Tumblr media
When it comes to Cassian Andor, Jyn still finds herself lying to others from time to time, but she concludes that it is a practice that is much more enjoyable when shared.

other name
rebelcaptain diner au continuation
(read the first fic here)
“Lyra?” he asked her.
For a moment heat spiked through Jyn; she thought he was gazing at her chest but it was just her new name tag, written in purple.
Her mother’s name for her birthday. He didn’t need to know that. It made her happy the new name tag sparked a question from him. Sometimes weeks went by without an upset in their normal rhythm.
“I’ve got to rebel somehow,” she grinned. “Boss man hates when name tags are wrong.”
Saw never comes in this early to check her, so he’d never know. But a little rebellion is necessary to stay alive, Jyn thought. She’s too tired to break the law any further.
“It’s a pretty name,” the man said as she poured his coffee, black and steaming from the carafe.
“Mhm.”
She was scared to say anything else to the man, who’s name she still didn’t know. One day she’d break this simple back and forth. She’d ruin things, like she always does. But not today.

thank god for his gift of love
cassian andor x jyn erso
After everything they'd been through, this was more than Cassian could ask for. The Empire had fallen, hope had arisen across the galaxy, and through it all, the love of his life had stood by his side.
Cassian didn't know much about what to believe in. The force, gods, force gods— whatever was out there, watching over him, he couldn't help but be grateful. Right now, he and his wife were celebrating Life Day, together, and they were safe, and they were happy, and they loved each other.
So, whatever was out there, watching over them, he was thankful for.

Janos City Blues - Chapter Three
Life is slowing down, so I was finally able to wrap this chapter up! Hopefully I'll be able to get updates out more frequently going forward.
On another note, Bodhi showed up sooner than expected -- and the chapter opens with him, before catching up with Jyn and Cassian. :) I hope you enjoy it, and thank you for reading!
Somewhere in Chommel Sector Bodhi Rook’s fingers ached. His fingers ached; his lungs burned; his heart pounded, punching a hole through his ribs.  He sat, tethered and free, in the long dark of space. Nothing but the black, and the vague sense, the gentle tugging, of a nearby gravity well. He had an opening, a pocket of calm, a moment to breathe. Long, deep - four count in, four count out. Four count in, four count out. The burn began to abate. His heart began to slow. Above him, a stirring. A chorus of whirs and bips; a note of alarm.  “I know, 61, I know.” He gulped down another draught of air, letting the count go. “I just need to…” The rear warning sensor buzzed and trilled. Two misshapen circles crept into the bottom edge of his tracking computer, shifted forward once, then again, and again, converging on the center. He unfurled his fingers, closed them, leaned into the ache. R2-61 sputtered at him. “I said I know.”

your girl is 2k into the new chapter of Amas Veritas <3
As usual, Cassian took the time to gently scratch Kyber between her ears in greeting, and Jyn hid a smile into her own mug when Kyber blinked up at him with sleepy eyes, then went right back to sleep. Her expression had said, ‘Oh. It’s you again. Fine, I guess.’ “So what do you wanna have today?” Cassian asked as he straightened up and accepted the mug. You, ideally, Jyn thought unbidden, but shook those ideas away. Slow down, miss. He means food. “Surprise me.” She leaned up to peck him on the lips. “I’ll be right back.”

AO3 Writing Review... from an Andor Nut
After a gap of over twenty years I started writing fanfics again in March last year - entirely after getting completely and almost embarrassingly obsessed with Star Wars: Andor. That is my only fandom and I can’t see that changing anytime soon (obviously overlapping into Rogue One).  I’m a multishipper but have also written gen.
The boring stats are that I published 39 works, totalling 94,519 words. 481 kudos. (I've lost the original prompt with whoever tagged me so forgive me - this a bit free-form.)
The work I’m most proud of is Dawn Chorus and that’s my only completed multi-chapter fic to date too. Not surprisingly perhaps, it’s also the one that’s had the most hits as it’s the oldest from the most popular ship I’ve written for (“Rebelcaptain”: Cassian Andor x Jyn Erso)  But I’m also really proud of the work with the least hits which is a poem: a sonnet based on Luthen Rael’s Andor monologue.
Favourite Title: The Hardest Wall, which is that of my favourite of my Bix x Cassian fics. It’s very multi-meaning and I am a bit of a sucker for that kind of thing.
Favourite ship: Bix x Cassian is my current favourite pairing and the one I’ve written for the most (there's a series dealing with their early checkered history... and because it's a relatively unpopular ship at the moment I've enjoyed somewhat cornering the market), but I’ve also really enjoyed writing several other ships including Luthen/Cassian, which I would not have expected at all when I first started. This is because of reading other people's wonderful fics - I’m always amazed about how great writers can make the unexpected work. Thanks to a chat with a couple of mutuals whose Brassian fics I’ve really admired ( @distressednoise and @notasapleasure ) I’m underway with having a go with that ship too.
My favourite gen fic is the series of strictly 100 word drabbles I did for each episode of Andor season 1. I’m really pleased with how those turned out, and as with writing sonnets and villanelles it seems that I really like the challenge of a strict form or structure. I really struggled at times to hit the 100 spot on but it feels so good to get the rules right. Favourite standalone gen fic is probably Making a Mark which is set in Cassian's time in youth custody.
The quickest work to write was the rebelcaptain fic Vision which I did in just a few hours. Kind of ironic that it got more hits and kudos than some works I struggled more with and probably prefer, but - again - it’s a popular ship. It’s nice to have an easy Hit on your hands sometimes though and I do enjoy writing RC - it's a way to give Cassian and Jyn the happy ending the film denied them.
The longest to write were the drabbles, simply because I didn’t have the energy or time to do more than one episode at a time. It also involved rewatching each episode first.
The character I had the most trouble writing is Dedra Meero, who I’ve attempted a few times in the first person, as it’s so hard to capture the voice of someone who gives so little away. I also struggled a bit with Cinta, though I’m quite pleased with the couple of Velcinta works (story and poem) I have tackled. It helps to develop a headcanon about a character and be consistent with it, and I do return to the ‘text’ of the show itself to check for canon compliance. I’m pretty obsessed with not treading on the toes of canon (blame my teacherlyness!) , except where it’s an obvious AU.. but even then I want to the keep the characters recognisably themselves.
Favourite line or passage? Probably the section with an extended metaphor involving Bix’s heart in The Hardest Wall, which is a fictionalised analysis of the angsty argument scene between Cassian and Bix in Episode 7. I really like the third person limited - it’s by far my favourite perspective, and you can have a lot of fun with it when a character is avoiding being completely honest (with themselves or others).
But I won’t quote it here as it’s hard to give a passage from the middle as an example. Instead here’s one from the Cassian/Luthen Rael fic Small Kindnesses which is from the perspective of Luthen, and is basically an internal monologue about Cassian.
Has anyone ever made a weapon that wasn’t used? I didn’t make this one, at least. He has forged himself, from the devastation of Kenari and the salyards of Ferrix. But I helped steer him in the right direction, at least. Well, the right direction for the cause, anyway. For him, as a person… not so much.
Nonetheless. Here he is. With his skin. Bruised and battered, scarred, marked, ready to bleed again at the gentlest knock against the scabs. Battle hardened. Primed and ready soon enough – with further training. Further guidance. He has proved himself more than worthy: slipping unseen, liquid shadow in the periphery of vision. Catlike soft footfalls, easing through undetected, walking in like he belongs, landing on his feet, learning to swim despite hating the water.
I’ve gifted four works this year, including for @jake-and-amy-are-married as they were so instrumental in encouraging me to start writing again, and a couple for my Andor bestie @adeptnenyim - who I was lucky enough to meet in person so we could Andor-Nut together at one of the series' locations. I’ve also been befriended and encouraged by various folks across a couple of Discord servers and by DMs on here. It’s lovely to have new friends from all over the world who share my un/healthy obsessions!
Have a Happy 2025 everyone. Enjoy writing… it’s for yourself, remember! You can be your own worst critic but also your own biggest fan. Write with that in mind. Write to please yourself, in the best sense.

Hello! 💖 A drabble that made you want 100K more words ✨rebelcaptain✨
Hi! SUCH a good question (I have several lol)
the sheltering sky by fulcrumstardust. I am not lying when I say I would literally give up writing if @fulcrumstardust wrote more of this. I NEED more of this so badly it hurts. I mean a WESTERN AU?!? Need I say more????
if thou wear me by ephemera is a more recent one but I am so locked in if they decide to continue. Royalty au, marriage of convenience and it’s written by the queen @incognitajones ? A must read for historical lovers
And last but certainly not least…
un feu pareil au mien by the ever iconic @luciechat technically she did write a sequel le froid brûle pareillement
But my greedy ass NEEDS more. I could easily read a whole 100k Fic about this au. Medieval arranged marriage but they fall in love and it’s so tender please lucie I’m begging for more.

*somersaults into chimney with dramatic entrance*
It is I your rcss again. The holidays are nigh and I hope everything is going as well as you intend.
currently I am getting my drabbles organized and am looking forward to dedicating more time on my winter break to make it all come together. you can imagine me as santa typing away on his laptop in front of a tv fire with their pet children cuddling by a charlie brown-looking plastic christmas tree 🫶
this is typically a hectic time so no pressure to respond anytime soon at all. but i’m sending best wishes and if you get to it, here’s the question(s) of the week:
when did you start shipping rebelcaptain? and
in a life after war, what do you think their dream home would look like?
Hi!
I am 100% unprepared this year (life has been life-ing big time), but oh well - I'll make it through. At least some of my presents aren't 'due' until after Christmas (I won't be seeing those folks until later), so that's a help.
For RebelCaptain...I liked them when I saw it in theaters, but it wasn't until a few months later when I watched it with my mom that I was like "Nope, these two are my favorite ship now." And that was that.
A life after war? Not quite sure. I love the idea of them adopting strays along the way (people, animals, plants, droids - I'm not picky). I don't think Cassian could ever truly leave the Rebellion or New Republic, but I don't think either would be too content on say, Coruscant, but of the planets shown on screen, maybe Takodana? (That could just be because I like Maz.) I have no idea what they'd actually do for a job/occupation, but...they'd find something.
Thank you - I hope you have a good week & enjoy yourself!

😂 and 😭
😂 A fic that made you laugh out loud
Honest to God Calling Hour was the first one that popped in my head lol
Maybe it's recency bias, but the way the Bridgerton sibs interact with each other in this fic always makes me laugh.
😭 A fic that ripped your heart out (but it hurt so good)
In a Sentimental Solitude and Coda both by talefeathers are Cowboy Bebop drabbles that deal with the aftermath of the end of the series and will always make me tear up when I read them
Also We've Been Here Before by angel_duex (rebelcaptain, Rogue One) which is like the best use of the Groundhog Day/time loop trope I've ever seen.
Thank you for the ask! :)

rebelcaptain + 9 for the drabble requests? 🩷
Stella my love! I did a little twist on this one and made it a Cassian character study
9. I can’t let you go from this list
WC: 500
Spies, saboteurs, assassins.
Assassins.
Assassins with targets and kill orders. Heads in rifle scopes. Heads that belonged to people. People that belonged to families. Snuffed out in an instant under the guise of rebellion or progress. Taking back what’s ours by taking what belongs to you. Empty dinner tables and full caskets.
Cassian’s stomach turned time and time again. No matter how he tried to detach himself, he carried every kill with him. His shoulders were starting to crumble under the weight of the bodies that piled on top of him while he fought for a poorly earned night’s sleep.
It was a slow sickness. It spread through his organs and his limbs bit by bit, year by year.
Like clockwork, another order came through. He nodded like he was supposed to. He laced his boots and packed his bags on autopilot. Checked the ship’s diagnostics, cleaned his rifle.
Cassian was double checking his pack when Jyn passed in front of him like a shadow. The setting sun illuminated her in his field of vision. The outline of her strong shoulders, the wisps of hair blowing in the wind, two fierce green eyes burning brighter than any stars they had traveled to.
Her brow was set hard and her full mouth turned down in a frown.
“You’re not going.”
Confusion drew his lips and brows together, “What?”
“I can’t let you go,” she reiterated, standing still as a column, holding up the foundation of everything he had become.
Cassian’s movements slowed as he rose from his crouched position, grimacing a little as his joints bore the weight of everything he carried.
“Jyn, what’s this about?” He extended a hand to gently hold the underside of one of her crossed arms. She allowed the contact and softened a little.
“Don’t you see what this is doing to you? What they’re turning you into?” Her voice came out as a hissed whisper, “Every time you pull that trigger, a part of you dies as well.”
Jyn’s words were like a blow to the gut, knocking the wind out of him. Striking him with her full strength would’ve hurt less. It stung because it was true.
Cassian hung his head. Her words from the time they met echoed in his mind every time he boarded his U-Wing.
“Orders? When you know they’re wrong?”
All the ground they had gained in the last few years meant nothing if he couldn’t live with himself.
Jyn’s hand found his waist and he lifted his eyes to meet hers, impossibly softer now. She looked at him with compassion and understanding, and he would never understand how she still could.
“I’ll tell them to send someone else,” he nodded, giving his word.
“You’re more than a weapon, Captain,” she squeezed his hip firmly and exited into the hangar.
Cassian watched her walk away, feeling his resolve strengthen again, hoping one day it could stand next to hers and not look pitiful in comparison.

RebelCaptain + 20 (for your drabble game)!
Hiya, Luce!! Thank you for this ask, love 💕
I'm gonna try this revolutionary thing where I just allow myself to write and not overthink so here's what I got! Free-flowing and unedited. Hope you enjoy! 🤞
things you said that i wasn’t meant to hear
The nightmare’s grasp on her slowly loosened–visions of fire and blood, feelings of fear and heartbreak–giving way to the sensation of a welcome, comforting weight around her shoulders, a steady, reassuring rhythm at her ear…
Jyn opened her eyes to a pitch black, staying perfectly still–as she might after a hard fall, catching her breath, running through a mental checklist of bones and muscles to gather what she needed to move forward.
Cassian… As more and more of reality began to filter in, he was the first truth she recognized, the one she anchored herself too, the one that mattered most.
He was safe. They were safe.
They were in his room, in his bed, and it was his arms that were holding her, his scent she was inhaling, his fingers that were sliding a soft pattern, through her hair and down her shoulder, his…
His voice, that had pulled her from the bad dream. ‘Shhh, Jyn, it’s okay. You’re okay.’
His voice that she became aware of now, still there in the dark, gentle and warm.
Except she could no longer recognize his words, and he had stopped speaking.
He was singing, in a language she didn’t understand, but could detect the meaning of in each careful note–the same way you didn’t always need speech to communicate emotions like joy, sadness, love…
He was very quiet, his tone more a humming whisper than anything, breathy and a little hesitant, but no less beautiful for it.
She hadn’t known Cassian could sing, hadn’t expected anything like that from the hardened, rebel spy, the survivor.
But then again, there were a lot of things she hadn’t expected with him…sleeping beside him being one of them.
She thought about saying something, thanking him, or asking him what he was singing, but somehow it felt like she would be breaking a spell, as though he had only intended for the song to be heard behind the curtain of her dreams, as a guide, a compass upon which her mind could steer her to peace.
So instead Jyn simply closed her eyes, burrowed deeper into his embrace, and listened to the sound of home…

my late rebelcaptain/fluffuary(???) fic for day 10: flush!!!!!!
Jyn isn’t shy in real life. Some would say she’s brash, impulsive, a danger to everyone around her, to the cause itself.
And she is dangerous. It’s part of why Cassian is in love with her. One look at her eyes and you can tell what mood she’s in– and exactly who’s going to pay for it. She’s small but able. She’ll kick his ass and anyone elses who tries to make her stop.
She fights for the rebels but she’s different from them, from him. She reminds him of what it really feels like to make a difference. What it felt like to fight for something you believe in.
She tells him the same. They save each other, he likes to think.
Shy Jyn does come out though. Cassian drags it out. Forces her hand, all to watch her flush, watch it spread over her cheeks, down to her neck, finally spreading out over her freckled chest. There’s a faded scar over her right breast– blush pools around it, letting the scar blind with its unnatural light. He starts there, dragging a finger over it. A time he wasn’t there for her, when she was down in the hole by herself. Never again.
“You just like to see your fingerprints on me,” she jokes, trying to distract from being the center of attention.
She’s right. Cassian touches her, and the red gives way for a moment, showing his place on her body. Jyn is her own person; no one can own her. But for a moment, she’s his.
“I do,” he says back. Since he met her, she’s turned him into an honest man. All he does now is tell her the truth.
“I love it when you blush for me,” he says, and he means every word.

Janos City Blues - Chapter One
Hello there! :) This is the first chapter in what I expect to be a lengthy RebelCaptain piece, featuring an off-schedule revolution, intrigue, Bothans, and slow burn romance.
Here's the setup: Jyn and Cassian have been sent to Janos City to disrupt the already-troubled Lant Mining Corporation's operations, and to help a group of on-the-ground agents foment insurrection. Revolutions, however, cannot be controlled...
As a heads up, this piece is going to be very class-forward. The mission itself is also ethically problematic (as the Alliance can sometimes be), which I'm going to do my best to tackle appropriately. The M rating is "just in case." And Bodhi will definitely be making an appearance. :)
All right, I think that covers it! Without further adieu...
The ship’s air was still and stagnant, and her feet clung to the memory of the engine’s hum. They’d been traveling for nearly two days. Time enough to absorb the rhythms of the ship, to get inured to the rush of stars, to sit and to think and to long for solid ground. She looked up. Through the porthole to her left, she could see planetside sights: the dance of aircraft, a layer of clouds, the spire of a tower, ringed by red lights. Should’ve been a relief, that they were about to disembark. She wasn’t nervous. Well, maybe she was, but she’d never call it that. Cassian stood a pace back from the hatch, half one ahead of her, his suitcase - sleek, square, modern, the sort that came with a matching set - hanging stiffly from his hand. She took in the whole of him, and frowned. “Soften your aureks.” Cassian stopped short. “What?” It had taken Jyn until now to put words to it. He hadn’t asked her for help, per se, but early on, he’d mentioned he hadn’t used his Coruscanti accent in a while, and then had stopped using his own voice altogether. It didn’t take a genius to read between the lines. “Your aureks,” she said. “They’re a little hard.” He regarded her for a moment, long enough for her to doubt. At length, he nodded, smiled slightly. “Thank you.” Decently said, accent-wise. “Sure.” There were implications to him valuing her input on this, some more significant than others. She ignored them.
